At Donner's west end is a public and homeowners beach, at the east end is Donner Memorial State Park, towering overhead is Donner Peak, and public docks line the entire north side.  The south side is more shaded and offers lush vegetation.  Though the lake itself is the main attraction, it is just a starting point for most activities.  Within just a few minutes you can be at dozens of ski resorts and trailheads.  Important to note, the west end receives much more snow than the rest of the lake!
